How accurate is photo scanning?
The model recognises the dish and estimates each ingredient's weight; calories and macros are then calculated from public food databases (USDA and Open Food Facts). That keeps the numbers traceable for whatever was recognised. Portion size is the hard part — shoot from above, in good light, with the whole plate in frame, and fix any weight that looks wrong. It's one tap.
How much does it cost?
Hapka AI is free — no card and no trial. AI scans have a daily limit that resets at midnight; barcodes and manual logging don't. If we ever add a paid plan, everything you've logged stays yours and we'll tell you well in advance.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone with iOS 18 or later, and Android phones with Android 10 or later.
Does it know Bulgarian food?
Yes. Hapka AI is made in Bulgaria: shopska, tarator, banitsa, kebapche, lyutenitsa and plenty of local products. The whole app, including the food catalogue, is in English and Bulgarian.
What happens when I scan a barcode?
A barcode has a right answer, so AI isn't involved. The check digit is validated, the product is looked up by exact match, and the label's portions are offered directly. If a product is missing, you can snap its nutrition panel instead.
Can I fix a wrong scan?
Yes. Open the meal, swap or remove an ingredient, change a weight or the servings. Totals recalculate from the database rather than by asking the model again.
How is my daily calorie goal set?
It's calculated from your profile (height, weight, age, activity) and the pace you choose. You can also set it by hand. Past days are always measured against the goal that was active at the time.
Does it sync with Apple Health and Health Connect?
Yes. On iPhone, steps, active energy and workouts are read from Apple Health; on Android, from Health Connect. Access is read-only and only with your permission.
What do you do with my data and photos?
Photos are used to recognise your meal and stay attached to it in your history. There are no ads and no ad tracking. You can export everything or delete your account from inside the app at any time. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Account Actions → Delete account…. Without the app, email us from the address you signed in with. Your data is anonymised immediately and permanently erased after 30 days.
